New gear

I picked up a few items recently that I think will make an impact on the photography I do. One is a 15mm fisheye, which really gives an excellent intimate feel to photojournalistic images, and the other thing is a ringflash adapter for the 580EX. I like the effect the ringflash gives when used against certain backgrounds. You can see an excellent example by looking at the headshot of Mike in the Prosperity post below.

Engagement Shoot

I was photographing Clair and Max yesterday. There is a great location just by my place that I like to take people for their engagment sessions. The beautiful rock garden, lake, and green space make for some excellent images. Clair and Max took my advice and kept the colors unified, simple, and dark. You can see how this makes their faces stand out against the rest of the photo. I had fun shooting there in the morning, as I normally do it in the evening. And from the looks on their faces I'd say they had a good time too.

Natalia & Allan

On Saturday I was shooting for Allan & Natalia. These guys were great. They were so much about the marriage, not the wedding. I have never seen two people so in synch. They played a game at the reception, where each of them had one of their shoes, and one of the other persons shoes. They stood back to back and had to answer questions by holding up the shoe for the person who best fit the answer. So when asked "who will do this or that, or who is the this or that, they both held up the same shoe. The funny thing was that not only were their answers all exactly the same, but they even took about the same time to think about it. And the best was when asked one question, they both put up both shoes at the same time. It was a great wedding, I had lots of fun shooting with you guys and appreciated your willingness to keep on posing and trying new stuff, even into the reception. I hope to see you again soon.

Prosperity

As no doubt all of you know, 08/08/08 was a very popular date due to the significance of the number 8. I believe it signifies prosperity since it also represents the infinity symbol. This is also the date of Mike and Brandy's wedding. And by the looks of their beautiful home in Sherwood Park, they will be prosperous indeed. Here are some images I made for these two on their special day. Thank you for letting me share this memorable day with you and best wishes for the future. Jeff

Kevin & Shallen

I had the pleaseure of being the photographer for Kevin & Shallen last weekend. The wedding was great, and the weather couldn't have been better. Shallen looked like a million bucks right from the start and was accompanied by her lovely bridesmaids. These two had great energy throughout the day and the photo session was fun. I even ran a slideshow session at the reception showing of some of the images we made that day, which was well received by the guests. The reception even had a very special guest, our Premier, Ed Stelmach. Best wishes for you two in the future.

Two weeks of busy

Well, I have been keeping pretty busy for the last couple of weeks, an airshow, 3 weddings, 3 of the AAA Junior Championship Baseball games, framing, putting together bids, etc. It's no wonder I havent put anything up here in a while. Well here is the post you have all been waiting for, a 2 week photo summary.

Robin & Paula were doing things on the sly. In an unannounced elopement, Robin and Paula finally tied the knot in a very intimate (only 5 of us there) wedding, to cement their relationship of many years already.

Assim & Barbara tied the knot on Sunday, as is common in Lebanese weddings. And things couldn't have been more beautiful. A stunning array of bridesmaids, beautiful venues, great food and dancing all combined to make this day amazing.

Michelle and Dan (probably the luckiest people ever) had the weather do their bidding on Saturday for their fantastic outdoor ceremony. I think that Grandma was indeed there orchestrating the sunshine for the ceremony and formals. I loved the reception venue, and used the 2nd level to get this incredible image of them during their first dance.

There is hot, and then there is airshow hot. No shade, no clouds. Great for shooting some excellent aerial acrobatics on an unblemished sky though. And with the Reynolds Museum just a few steps away I was able to find not only AC shelter, but a gem of a museum. If you have not been, I highly recommend this one. Only a 30 minute drive from Edmonton, the Reynolds museum in Wetaskiwin is worth bringing the family to.
